A giant float replica of Rachel the Pig was at the center of the market. Rachel is a bronze piggy bank that guards the main entrance to the market. For locals, she is a favorite meeting spot at the Market. Over the years she has collected over $100,000. The donations benefit the Pike Place Market Foundation which operates a clinic, senior center, day care and low income housing. All of these facilities are in the market but most visitors never see any of it.
