UKC Travelling to The USA - POE question

My daughter is travelling to the USA to visit friends in NYC for 2 weeks at the end of May. She is in her mid 20's, I'm a little concerened as she has been suffering from anxiety/depression, and consequently has had to give up her work/house & is on medication.

While we feel the holiday will be good for her, we are a little concerend that she may run into problems at customs. Should she travel with a doctors note or any documentation? or are we worrying about nothing?

     Thanks for your time.

I don't think you will have any problems with most medications.  You can generally take any prescription or non-prescription medication for your own use without problem.  Unless it is some narcotic that might set off the drug scanning equipment, the medication should not be an issue.  Even if it is a narcotic, it would normally be accepted if it is in a pharmacy bottle with your name and the prescribing doctor's name on it.

If you are carrying some prescription medications that are narcotic or are in injectable syringes such as insulin, it is usually a good idea to tell the security screeners that you are carrying such items. If the medications are in your carry-on luggage, you should place all bottles of liquids in a one liter plastic bag and lay the bag on the outside of your luggage when clearing security.
