This is the time of the year when winter is rapidly approaching the northern parts of the USA. The icy winds, the snowfall and the freezing weather are drawing near. This is the time of the year when many folks start thinking about a vacation in the sunny southern parts of the USA.

Florida is the most popular winter vacation destination in the eastern USA. At this time of the year, the temperatures in Florida are very pleasant. Today, at the beginning of November, the temperature is 27 C. Even in the heart of the winter season, the temperatures usually hover around 15 - 17 C. The heavy summer rainfall is finished and the chances of cloudy rainy days are less throughout the winter months. Swimming in the sea is still possible but the water will soon become too cold. Fortunately, nearly every resort has a heated swimming pool that makes swimming popular throughout the winter. Golf is the great winter pastime in Florida.

Las Vegas is the most popular winter vacation destination in the western part of the USA. The temperature is currently around 25 C, but it may drop to an average of about 10 C during the months of December through February. The chances of any rainfall are very low in this desert community. The most popular attractions in Vegas are xxxx, entertainment, dining and golf.

Phoenix Arizona is another western winter vacation spot. It has a pleasant 25 C today, but temperatures may drop to the 10C level during December through February. Chances of rainfall are low. Golf is the main winter pasttime with a plethora of great courses near this city.

Palm Springs California is another favorite destination. It currently offers 29 C temperatures which are unlikely to fall below 15 C even in the dead of winter. Chances of rainfall in Palm Springs are near zero. It has some of the finest golf courses in the USA.

    Hi Mike,
Another place to consider is Canada's Hawaii-the east coast of Vancouver Island. Temperatures are moderate in the winter, dayitme averages at about 36-38F and night hover and 32F. Our grass is green all winter and we seldom get snow. If you like nature adventure, there is storm watching on the west coast in Tofino, or if you prefer historical, you can visit downtown Nanaimo to shop among the historic buildings. Take a stroll along the waterfront to watch winter seabirds and marine mammals feast on the herring spawn from Jan to March. Birding is excellent year round as well. Discover the feel of a west coast rainforest! Nanaimo has a new upscale Guest House in a renovated 1913 historic building, and can see the 1953 Hudson Bay Company Bastion and waterfront from there. It's safe and clean with all the amenities of a regional centre!
    Come visit us!

I also neglected to mention that Victoria receives only 26 inches a rain a year and Nanaimo only slightly more at 29 inches. We are in the rainshadow and have the benefits of less wind and rain and more sun. When i'ts rianing in Seattel and vancouver, it's sunny or just overcast on the east coast of Vancouver Island!

When planning a trip to FL in the winter it's always good to know that Winter is the high season in the main part of FL and the LOW season in the FL Panhandle! This means that rates will be much lower in the Panhandle!
