    From Germany

    Hi,

my name is Horst, I´m 50 years aged and I live in Germany. Here in the state called Bavaria, best known of the Oktoberfest. But that´s only a little part of this amazing region with quite high mountains, called the Alps, many seas, towns like Munich and so on.

Although my favourite country I´d like to live are the USA. I visited this great country for three times. In 2005 first NYC and then at trip through the northeast states with the Niagara Falls as final destination. Two years later I spent one week with my whole family (my wife, my daughter, my son and my daughter in law) again in NYC. Last year we went to the southwest states with all the great locations like Highway N° 1 from Frisco to San Diego, Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches N.P., Bryce Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Sequoia N.P., Yosemite N.P. an finally five days in Frisco. I dream of mine has become true.

My plans for future are to spend again one week during New Years Eve in NYC and in 2010  to visit towns like New Orleans, Memphis and Nashville, Tennesee, the plain states, especially South Dakota with Mt. Rushmore and so on, Yellowstone N.P. and at least Salt Lake City.

I´d be very glad to find some mail pals in the USA, perhaps someone who knows the locations, we will visit.

    Heartly greetings

    Horst

    Guten Tag Horst!
    Welcome to the USATourist Forums!
You've already visited some of my favorite places.  You can share your experiences on the Travelogue Forum  http://community.usatourist.com/forums/7.aspx, share USA Travel Tips here http://community.usatourist.com/forums/16.aspx, and recommend your favorite US destinations here http://community.usatourist.com/forums/10.aspx.  I think that with you've gained some great knowledge about traveling in our country that others from around the world would like to learn.
For as much as you've enjoyed the USA, it sounds like you love your region of Bavaria as well.  I have traveled a little in Germany.  Though I have not made it to Bavaria - hopefully some day!  Although USATourist.com is about the United States, I have set up forum for folks to share information about their homelands.  http://community.usatourist.com/forums/59.aspx
I hope that you'll make your reservations for NYC very early.  Times Square is the biggest New Years Eve party in the U.S.  Rooms book well in advance despite the higher holiday rates.  And with the year turning to 2010, it may be possible that even more people will want to join the big party.
There's a lot to see in South Dakota.  I also recommend visiting the Crazy Horse Monument, Devil's Tower, Badlands National Park, and the town of Deadwood.  Wind Cave NP and Jewel Cave National Monument are also nice stops.  And if you are drive any stretch of I-90, you will lots of billboards for Wall Drug.  It's definitely worth the stop to see the very touristy souveniers!

    Hi Michelle,

    thanks for your gentle mail.

We have made our reservation for NYC already. We´ll stay at Edsion Hotel at 47th Street West. It´s not a number One address, but rooms are ok, rates also and the location is simply great, about 300 ft far away from Times Square. Our flights were confirmed yesterday. So everything´s ok, we have to wait.

I will post my experiences at your Forums as soon as possible, but my job occupies me very much at this time.

    Hey Michelle,

last post was the wrong one, here´s the mail I wrote first.

Thanks a lot for your gentle mail.

If you´re planing a trip to Germany and especially to Bavaria, let me know it, perhaps it would be possible to show you some great locations personally. I live near Berchtesgaden, perhaps known of Eagles Nest, my occupation is a team leader of an Insurance Company in Munich.

Thanks also for your tipps for SoDa, I hope the trip will be realized.

At the moment my job occupies me so much, that I have no time to publish my experiences at your forums. But be sure, I´ll do as soon as possible.
