I just returned from a trip over July 4 to Gulf Shores, AL, on the Gulf Coast. We got a little rain, but mostly it was clear blue skies and sugar-white sand beaches. I think my favorite part of the vacation was walking the birding trails. Herons, egrets, snowy plovers, ospreys, pelicans - there was so much to see. The kids swam almost every day, and we all went on a dolphin sunset cruise one evening. All in all, a wonderful vacation, with little driving and more time to just relax and enjoy.

 What's your favorite beach town?

I love Gulf Shores. I used to go there as a child on vacation then later when I was in my 20's went with my grandmother on a senior casino day trip from Pensacola. 

I'm a sucker for beach towns. Last month I went on a road trip with my husband and kids in tow and stayed in several beach towns including Huntington Beach and San Diego, both which were wonderful. But now you make me want to explore the Gulf Coast again.
