Cars from other countries in USA

Hi! I would like your help. I'm portuguese and I would like to cross USA next summer. But the problem is that I have 21 and it would be very expensive rent a car for a month. So I would like to know if I can take my car on the plane that I will take to New York. I searched in the internet and I didn't find any information about this.

    Thank you for your help!

I believe it would be more expensive to take a car on the airplane than it would be to rent a car in the USA; but if you manage to bring a car on the airplane, it should be the same as driving a car across the border from Canada or Mexico.

If you drive a car into the US from Canada or Mexico, you only need to have valid license tags, proof that you own the car, and liability insurance that is valid in the USA.
