Une sévère tempête d’ hiver s’ est acharnée sur la partie Sud de la Californie durant les premières semaines 2008. Des pluies torrentielles accompagnées de vents forts sont tombées sur toute la région. Des inondations dans certaines parties de l’ état ont provoqué des éboulements à cause des incendies qui avaient dévastés les terres. L’ aéroport international de Los Angeles fût temporairement fermé.
Dans les montagnes Sierra Nevada cette tempête a amené beaucoup de neige. Trois mètres de neige fraîche sont tombés sur les pics. Presque tous les passages montagneux ont été fermés. Même le passage le long de la Route 80, qui est normalement ouvert tout l’ hiver fût fermé après qu’ un mètre de neige soit tombé. La plus part des motoristes se sont trouvés coincés en abris d’ urgence durant les déblayements des routes au niveau des passages.
A l’ Est des montagnes Sierra Nevada certaines vallées de la partie Est de la Californie et du Nevada ont eu aussi des inondations.
La tempête s’ est avancée sur les terres intérieures jusqu’ au Colorado et Utah oû beaucoup de neige est tombée. Ces chûtes énormes de neige sont profitables aux stations de ski en Californie, Utah et au Corlorado.

CAROLE CESARI-DUCHESNE Bonjour, my name is Carole Cesari-DuChesne. I was born and grew up on the French Riviera until I decided to come and study in the US. I had fallen in love with America way back in my youth and had intended to come for longer than just a vacation. I passed my TOEFL test before my DEUG in LEA from the Faculty of Nice and decided to attend a two year program in International Business/ Retail Marketing in Seattle. After living in the Pacific Northwest for a while I fell in love with it. I met my wonderful husband while studying. I extended my stay in the US for another year by getting an internship program with Nintendo of America after which I went back home and got married.
When we returned to the US 6 months later, I became an assistant coordinator for a French cosmetic company in the North Puget Sound area. After my daughter was born, I decided to get back into translation work. I received my certification and taught French in a middle school and currently in a local community college which I deeply enjoyed. I have been involved with my husband's business for the last ten years. I am now a mother of three, two little boys and a teenage daughter. My family and I frequently go back home to Southern France as well as visiting Paris and the Atlantic coast where some of my relatives and childhood friends reside.
